About
Imperia Middleware Inc.
A small software company that makes Synapse board review.
The author
The Synapse content is written by Dr. David Filippi, a physician. The cards are built from the board's published examination blueprint and the guidelines and primary literature behind it.
Editorial method
- Guideline-anchored. A card is written against a named guideline, consensus statement or primary paper, and carries that citation. Citations open the source inside the app.
- Dated. Every content release records the date it was reviewed and the cut-off date of the evidence it reflects. The app shows the review date on its About screen, and this site prints it next to any count it quotes.
- Blueprint-weighted. Topics are mapped to the areas of the board's blueprint, so the scheduler spends your time the way the examination does.
- Corrected in the open. Reported errors are checked against the primary source and fixed in the next content update. Report one through the support page.
The app
Synapse: Neurocritical Care is built on FSRS spaced repetition, courses with clips, PDF study guides, and a sample session before a single one-time purchase. Nothing is collected and nothing leaves the device.
Imperia Middleware Inc. also makes PortCall, a market-briefing app. The company is not affiliated with any certifying board or medical society.
